I've just finished Day Watch, and it was incredibly good. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves good fantasy / supernatural novels, whether you've seen the first movie or read the first book or not.

There were only a few things that really required previous knowledge anyway, and sadly for some of them the movie doesn't provide the answers.

But it was well written and interesting, even if the occasional shift of perspective threw me to start with...
