Anyone Who Said 'Carpet' Was Half Right...

His name is Jack. :)

I had my first unofficial driving lesson today. I stalled it too many times to count, went into second gear and went around two road islands about 8 times... x.x;;

I don't feel like I'm doing so well, although apparently I'm doing quite well for someone who's never driven before. Must get better!

In some ways I feel better. I know every car is different and you get used to your own car more than anyone else's, but my mother managed to stall Jack three times before she even reversed off the drive, and then again once she was set to go forwards.

The clutch does go down a long way though... I always thought it would be something approximate to the accelerator, but I guess I was wrong. o.o;

And... is that from experience, that bit about traffic speeding towards you?! O.o;;

It isn't just your own car, it's that you can make it your own space that helps - stuff arranged to your tastes, your music, etc. I found I drove best alone in my little polo van with the music playing loud enough to just about drown out the roar of the rather old engine. The music helped more than anything, it was only when I was alone that I could play it (being a grumpy teenager and not quite sharing my parents musical tastes :P).

Yeah, that is experience. Couple of weeks back my Dad put it in the wrong gear going out onto the A1, so suddenly there I was staring at two lanes of oncoming traffic with only a car door between me and those rather fast moving cars...
