I got an email today with, well, one word in it. From a total stranger.

The subject line was "VSE na pokupku pingvinov", which I could tell was Russian.

So after faffing around with the Russian keyboard layout on my computer, I haphazardly managed to type "все на покупку пингвинов" into Google language tools and got...

"all for the purchase of penguins"

O___o

There's only one thing for it really, it's going to have to go into your script frenzy and/or nanomango :P

It's already gone onto my desk partition at work - all written in Russian, no less! I love writing that damn language.

And yeah, I'm planning on MMC using it as his mantra or something. XD

Can you find a use for the purchaseable penguins?

I can easily fit the line itself in, the real question is just what is for the purchase of penguins? And are you certain it's for the purchase in terms of buying, or in terms of making penguins more stable?

I'm not sure, to be honest. I didn't question it too deeply at the time, although I did put more thought into it once the cyrillic was up on my partition.

For some reason, I had the mental image of someone staring out over a post-apocalyptic war-desolated landscape, thinking "all for the purchase of penguins..."

Do penguins commonly become unstable, though? Maybe it's something to do with the melting ice caps?

Love that post-apocalyptic idea, certain beats most of the reasons for apocalypse that I've seen.

No idea about penguins becoming unstable, but as I posted it I got the mental image of penguins becoming chemically unstable and explosive. I suspect this whole alternate intepretation of basic words is going to lead down some very strange paths...

I might have to try to draw or render it at some point. It's definitely better than "we got nuked to oblivion by [blah]", although maybe it was pingvin that got sick of falling off the melty icecaps that did it in the end...

Oooh, explosive penguins... I like that idea, but surely they'd only contribute to global warming? Unless by explosive, you were thinking more along the lines of road rage and a propensity towards four-letter f-words that aren't "food"?

I'd have been tempted, but all the actual email body said was "pingvin"...

I'm starting to wonder if it might not be a phrase to save the world with or something. O___o
