It's NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month. :D

http://www.nanowrimo.org

It's a huge amount of fun, even if it does involve tearing my hair out sometimes... You basically write 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days. And it's not as difficult as it sound either. :3 Can be any genre - fantasy, sci fi, chick lit, nonfiction - and any language (although I've not seen anyone do Quenya or Klingon yet, I'm sure they will soon...).

I use it as a reason to dump a sorry excuse for half a novel in a word processor once a year. :3 Maybe one day I'll 1) finish a story (I've done 50k each year, but never finished, ironically enough) and 2) do something good enough to get published one day~!

Fancy joining in? It started today, but that's plenty of time to catch up. :3

Woah, sounds awesome.
I think I'll hop on the bandwagon!
Let's see if I can manage it.
I just don't know if I should write in german or english.
I guess it's better to choose the native language, no?

There was actually a conversation about writing in either german or english at the NaNo meet on saturday - one of our writers is from germany and she found herself pretty surprised to be writing her novel in english.

But it seems to be a general consensus that you get more words in english. But if it's for your first year, I'd say do it in anything you feel comfortable with, because it's weird enough without having to be concerned with other things. :)

I'm sure you can manage it. ^_^ 1667 words a day isn't so much, although the first year I did it I thought it was a huge amount. Now it seems like a tiny amount...
